The station, named after Ajami Abubakr oglu Nakhchian, the founder of the Nakhchivan School of Architecture, is simple, yet designed to in a remarkable way.
Before the construction of the "Memar Ajami" station of the "Purple Line", the entrance and exit lobby of the station was built on the side of the Moscow department store, creating a single composition with a double-sided and stone-made letter "M".
In the cashier's hall and the entry and exit of the lobby, the rhombic rectangular elements of the eight-pointed star in both directions add the richness of national architecture to a classic, simple style.
The octagonal hole on the ceiling of the platform is engraved on a metal grid in the national architectural style, with a chandelier placed right in the center. Sitting on a square-shape base on the ground, the station's columns in two rows extend in a non-standard form towards the multifaceted ceiling. Just like at the base, the columns are attached to the multifaceted ceiling through square shapes. There are four lamps in a round hole at the point where the columns are joined to the ceiling. Framing the columns, white stripes on the dark granite coating of the floor are diverted in the center, heading towards the next column. This interesting composition removes the station from the monotonous harmony, giving it the effect of a palace corridor.
On April 19, 2016, a passageway function to "Memar Ajami" station of the Purple line was also added to the station. During the construction of the station, the ground lobby was completely renovated using gloomy glass.
There is a direct passageway from the station to the "Memar Ajami" station of the Purple Line, and passengers pass from one line to another without an extra payment. Since the station of the new line also bears the same name, the color of the line is now marked along with the names of the two stations.

A fragment of "Shabi-hijran" ghazal from Uzeyir Hajibeyli's "Leyli and Majnun" opera, which he composed to "Leyli and Majnun" poem of Muhammad Fizuli, is played on the trains arriving at the station.
