On May 8, 2003, the Trade Union of Metro Workers was established on the basis of the Combined Union Committee of the metro. Since 2014, it has continued its activities under the name of the Union of Metro Workers.
After separating from the jurisdiction of the Azerbaijan Railway Transportation and Transport Workers’ Unions Organization, it began functioning as an independent entity. During this period, the metro management has been signing periodic collective agreements in accordance with legislation and consistently monitoring the fulfillment of mutual obligations.
The Union of Metro Workers (UMW) has structured its activities towards becoming a member of international workers’ union organizations.
