Third 'Wagon Corner' – Signaling and Communication Technologies

13 JUNE / 2022 / 13:58

The central area of the Center features a wagon-type section dedicated to signaling and communication, as well as information and communication technologies. The modern metro system is distinguished by its rapid development rate. In this context, the most advanced metro technologies initiated with the construction of new lines in the Baku metro are now being gradually implemented in existing lines.
The SCADA dispatcher control system, the CBTC radio channel control of trains, current microprocessor systems, and devices for the organization and regulation of train movement, including road and tunnel equipment and communication tools, are highlights of another specialized area. Here, lessons on systems applied in new lines, the wheel counter used in the "Narimanov" electric depot, throttle-transformer, various relays, and other equipment will ensure the effectiveness of the training.
It should be noted that, in accordance with a contract with France's “Thales SA” company, a group of Baku metro workers studied the SCADA (dispatcher management and database) and CBTC (radio channel control and management of train movement) systems to be applied in the Purple Line. In 2014, they underwent training in Toronto at “Thales Canada,” part of the “Thales SA” group, and later in the Istanbul metro.

Currently, these workers share their experience of working with new systems at the Training and Education Center with their colleagues. Additionally, based on a memorandum of understanding with the Azerbaijan-French University, practical trainings for students of relevant specialties are organized at the Baku metro, including at the Training and Education Center.

Given the complexity and importance of this field, a special cabinet equipped with models of the relevant road infrastructure and equipment has been set up to visually teach technological processes to trainees.
This cabinet, showcasing innovations on a special monitor, will be regularly updated with teaching materials in line with modern technological requirements.
