"A" type wagons

"A" type wagons

03 NOVEMBER / 2025

The oldest wagon in this train, reviving the history of wagon production industry, is of the "A" type. These types of wagons were produced between 1934 and 1937, totaling 111 units. The uniqueness of the wagon presented to Baku metro passengers is that it is among the first samples produced. The number 1 type "A" wagon and the coupled wagon number 1001, produced in 1934 at the MMZ (Mytishchi Wagon Manufacturing Plant), were launched for a test run on the "Sokolniki-Komsomolskaya" section of the Moscow metro on October 15 of the same year. After completing its service life, it was rebuilt as a track-measuring car and handed over to the service of the Baku metro. Until 2015, the compliance of metro tracks with technical standards and regulations was checked using equipment installed on this wagon.
