In connection with the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29), one of the world’s most prestigious events, changes will be made to the operational schedule of the Baku Metro. During the event, in addition to the traditional duty schedules of the management and staff of "Baku Metro" CJSC, additional personnel will be assigned across stations and facilities. The main goal is to regulate passenger flow, expedite decision-making regarding the operation of engineering and technical systems, and implement other necessary measures as needed.
To ensure smooth transportation for passengers traveling to COP29 venues and nearby historical, cultural, social, and recreational sites, volunteers organized by the COP29 Operations Company will operate on a rotational basis at 10 metro stations. These volunteers will also assist in informing passengers about metro usage, fare payment, and other relevant rules.
Based on a request from the COP29 Operations Company, Baku Metro stations will open to passengers at 5:00 AM from November 11 to 13. Although these days have been declared non-working days in the country, the metro train schedule will follow regular weekday timings. On these three days, trains on the Red Line between "Həzi Aslanov" and "28 May" stations will run at 2-minute intervals during peak hours (7:00–10:00 AM and 5:30–7:30 PM). For trains departing from "28 May" station towards "Dərnəgül" (Green Line) and "İçərişəhər" (Red Line), intervals will be twice as long. This schedule represents the most optimal timetable currently possible, considering the technical specifications of Baku Metro's lines.
During mid-day on the "Həzi Aslanov-28 May" section, intervals will be 2.5 minutes, increasing to 3 minutes or more in the early morning and late evening when passenger traffic decreases. On weekends, train intervals will be adjusted differently: on Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, intervals will be 2.5 minutes, while on Sundays during the same hours, they will be 3 minutes.
For the Purple Line, train intervals on the "Avtovağzal-8 Noyabr" section will be 8 minutes, while on the "Xocəsən-Avtovağzal" route, intervals will be primarily 16 minutes.
Train schedules to and from "Bakmil" station from November 11 to 13 will follow the regular weekday timetable.
On other days of COP29, the train schedules in Baku Metro will align with the standard autumn-winter timetable.
