Four more new powerful fans installed

In accordance with the plan, Baku Metro has completed the installation of 4 new powerful fans and is continuing to replace two older fans with new generation equivalents. Before installing the new fans, the old ones are removed, and the concrete base is demolished to prepare a new foundation that meets the technical requirements of the new fans. This process includes adjusting the height of the foundation to ensure the fan operates at maximum efficiency.
Ventilation system efficiency is critical for passenger safety within the metro's tunnels and stations, making the renewal of outdated ventilation equipment and the enhancement of existing systems an ongoing process. Recent acquisitions of ventilation equipment have been from "Ventprom," a machine-building plant located in Artyomovsk, Russia, known for its quality, technical parameters, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. "Ventprom" fans are distinguished by their lower electricity consumption and easy maintenance, including frequency converters in their control panels, which can be serviced much faster compared to other foreign manufacturers. Additionally, the server service is simpler and easier. Technical production tasks also took into account Baku's climatic conditions, the geological and infrastructural circumstances of the metro, and other technical issues.

Significant steps have been taken in recent years to modernize the ventilation systems and equipment to meet current technological standards. Since 2018, fan operation schedules have been adjusted seasonally, and the introduction of 10 new fans between 2020 and 2021 marks another phase of innovation. Compared to their predecessors, the new fans are more powerful and efficient, capable of supplying 2-3 times more clean air to the stations and tunnels. Their operation is centrally managed by dispatchers, allowing for quick and efficient adjustments to the fan operating modes, especially in emergency situations. This has been facilitated by the use of fiber-optic cabling and modern technological control cabinets, equipped with electronics from leading manufacturers like "Siemens," "Schneider," and EATON.
For the years 2022-2023, the plan includes the installation of "VOM 24-R" type 75 kW and "VOM 20" type 55 kW ventilation units designed for station and tunnel shafts. Currently, 4 fans have been installed at the "Ahmadli-Hazi Aslanov" section, "Jafar Jabbarli," and "Khatai" (2 units) stations. Preparations have begun to install 2 more fans at the "Ahmadli-Hazi Aslanov" and "Kara Karayev-Neftchiler" sections.
Overall, the metro has 123 ventilation units, including 8 powerful units installed in the last 5 years across 23 renovated and new stations on the Green and Red lines, all in fully operational condition. The introduction of new fan units in stations has led to a decrease in temperature by up to 3 degrees Celsius, demonstrating the positive impact of these upgrades on the metro environment.
