Medical and preventive measures are being taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. However, the spread of the infection is apparently rapid in the country. Although appropriate disinfection and other preventive measures are being taken on public transport, the metro, as an indoor space, currently creates favorable conditions for the spread of the virus due to the lack of natural ventilation. At the same time, there is apparently density among passengers in Baku Metro and they do not seem to follow the requirements of quarantine regime.
In order to ensure the safety of public health, the movement of trains in the Baku Metro will be suspended from March 31, 2020 at 22:00 to April 20, 2020.
Passengers’ transportation in Baku will be carried out by regular and express buses.
The interval between buses on both regular and express routes will be adjusted according to the flow of passengers. At the same time, spare buses have been released on the express lines in order to avoid possible congestion of passengers.
Unless it is absolutely necessary, we once again urge citizens not to leave their homes, keep the social distance between people on public transport, and follow the rules of a special quarantine regime.
