"SHADOWED HERITAGE OF VICTORY - EVACUATION HOSPITALS OF AZERBAIJAN" EXHIBITION

09 MAY / 2020 / 15:37

Adhering to the tradition of celebrating the world’s and the country’s important socio-political and cultural events with social actions, Baku Metro CJSC addressed the issue of 75th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
This exhibition, which coincides with the quarantine period, when mass cultural events are banned, is presented to the public virtually.
Last year, after a completely different project dedicated to the living legends of the Great Patriotic War - veterans, which instigated great public sympathy, "Baku Metro" CJSC management decided to organize this exhibition in the spirit of the day. The exhibition, which reflects the activities of evacuation hospitals in Azerbaijan during World War II, is also an expression of reverence for Azerbaijani doctors who have become the real heroes of the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Sparing no effort in the most difficult moments for our country, including in the fight for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, our doctors showed resolution and courage during the Great Patriotic War.
Of course, the audacity of the health workers of Azerbaijan, who made an invaluable contribution to the Soviet state's victory in the war of 1941-1945 with its manpower, military equipment, scientific and natural resources, as well as oil, has been overshadowed.
Today, Baku Metro CJSC presents a virtual exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the great victory with a deep sense of gratitude to our doctors who are fighting the coronavirus pandemic day and night.
In those years, 41 military hospitals operated uninterruptedly in Baku alone. In general, more than 440,000 wounded were treated in numerous evacuation hospitals in the country. The most difficult operations performed by Azerbaijani surgeons, the great work and care of ward doctors and nurses brought thousands of soldiers back to life, most of whom went back to the front.
Soldiers treated in evacuation hospitals were not left alone by the residents of the republic, especially schoolchildren, who gave them moral support, inspiring them with their artistic creations and gifts, and supporting them in their difficult days.
We bring to your attention a virtual exhibition created with the confidence to watch together in the post-quarantine period.
