As per the press release of the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers, passenger traffic in the Baku metro was resumed on May 9, 2020 at 06.00. According to the report, during the pandemic period due to a new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the Baku Metro will operate in accordance with the requirements and rules of the Operational Headquarters.
According to these rules, metro passengers must comply with the requirements of the "Guidelines for the prevention of coronavirus infection in public transport” and wear a medical mask.
However, on May 9, Baku resident Nijat Rahmanoglu, born in 1986, had an argument with a policeman at the “20 Yanvar” metro station, ignoring his request to wear a medical mask. The passenger who did not pay attention to the explanation of the relevant requirement of the methodological instruction by the police officer was brought to administrative responsibility.
Nijat Rahmanoglu, who acted contrary to the requirements of Article 535.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, admitted his mistake in the Yasamal district court. He was sentenced to 10 days in prison.
A total of 167 people were officially warned in the metro during the day. They were told that they would be prosecuted under the Code of Administrative Offenses if they violated the rules again.
Baku Metro CJSC once again informs passengers that the relevant methodological instructions of the Operational Staff, including the rules on wearing a medical mask, must be followed. Otherwise, passengers who violate the rules will be held administratively accountable.
