On the occasion of June 4th - World Blood Donor Day, the Blood Bank of the National Center for Hematology and Transfusion has thanked a number of organizations and citizens who are actively involved in blood donation.
An award and a letter of appreciation were also presented to “Baku Metro” CJSC at the event. Arif Mardanov, chairman of the Metro Workers' Trade Union, who attended the ceremony, was presented a letter of thanks and a special plaque of appreciation.
It should be noted that the “Baku Metro” CJSC holds a blood donation campaign in February each year to help children with thalassemia and hemophilia, as well as patients receiving treatment for leukemia. “Baku Metro” CJSC and Metro Workers' Trade Union joined the initiative put forward by Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, during the special quarantine regime in connection with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020, organizing another similar action in April.
During the event, medical experts spoke to the participants about the importance of voluntary blood donation for those suffering from blood diseases, as well as benefits of blood donation for the health of every person.
