TWO NEW TRAINS ON LINE

14 SEPTEMBER / 2020 / 13:27

Two of the four new trains brought from Russia earlier this month and added to the Baku metro carriage fleet are already on the line. Over the past period, the work on adjustment and testing of the latest generation carriages of 81-765.B / 766.B series in “Narimanov” electric depot was completed and the trains were put into operation by the order of the chairman of “Baku Metro” CJSC following the relevant consent of “Metrovagonmash”, which is part of the producer “Transmashholding” JSC.
Thus, the number of trains consisting of the state-of-the-art type of carriages currently running on metro lines has reached 13.
The adjustment work in the other two trains is nearing its completion. Both trains are expected to be put into operation in the coming days after the appropriate testing and adjustment measures are conducted.
In general, the renewal of the carriage fleet in the locomotive yard of the Baku Metro began in 2015. According to the contract signed with “Transmashholding” in October 2019, “Metrovagonmash will produce 40 carriages for Baku Metro over the next two years, 20 carriages per year, forming a total of 8 trains.
The maximum speed of the trains is 90 km/h and the engine power is 170 kilowatts. The weight of the lead carriage is 38 tons, and the middle carriage 36 tons. The lead carriage has 38 seats and the middle carriage 44 seats. Also, 315 passengers in the lead carriage and 329 in the middle carriage are conveniently transported to their destinations.
In this regard, it should be noted that the design of trains with a direct connection between the carriages allows to carry more passengers by expanding the cabin capacity by 15 percent. At the same time, the equal distribution of passengers along the train increases the comfort and safety of passengers.
The fact that the doors are wider than the previous generation carriages also has a special effect on the intensity of embarkment and disembarkment of passengers. There are also multifunctional zones in the carriages for standing passengers. Areas have been allocated for passengers carrying large loads and strollers. The handles on the carriages are also designed taking into account the passenger density. There are places for wheelchairs near the driver's cabin of the lead carriages. the Baku metro is known to have had a special type of service for wheelchair users since 2019 for passengers with disabilities in general. As part of the "Accessible Metro" project, such places have been installed in the old-generation trains of the metro. However, starting from 2015, such places are already taken into account in the production design of carriages.
The new carriages have been produced in accordance with the technical requirements of the Baku Metro. The trains are equipped with an air-conditioning system designed for Baku's climate and an automatically regulated microclimate control system. This system, as well as ultraviolet lamps, also perform the function of neutralizing the air in the cabin. Also, the drumless design serves to evenly distribute the air in the rooms, increasing the effect of thermal insulation.
Among the technical requirements, constructive changes have been made, taking into account the difficult hydrogeological conditions of the capital's underground roads, as well as the complex features of the Baku metro. In addition to all trains of the train being equipped with a traction engine, the most contemporary emergency, sliding and fire-fighting systems have been installed here. The carriages also have internal and external video surveillance systems, allowing the driver to control the train as a whole, monitor any area more closely on the control panel monitor, and assess the situation around it.
The expanded driver's cabin is equipped with technical means and intelligent support systems that monitor the driver's vigilance. The train also has a self-diagnostic system that collects, stores and transmits information to the driver's monitor.
