In the morning of September 27, the Armenian armed forces blatantly violated the ceasefire yet another time by firing on Azerbaijani settlements and military positions from several directions using various weapons, including heavy artillery, carrying out military operations that resulted in casualties among our civilian population, as well as our military, which is the violation of the 1949 Geneva Convention. However, the Azerbaijani Army destroyed many military equipment and manpower of the opposite side by preventing the insidious intentions and treacherous attacks of the enemy and delivering decent blows to the enemy's military positions.
The recent unacceptable rhetoric, irresponsible and shameless behavior of the Armenian military-political leadership in connection with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, especially the escalation of the military situation and the failure of the talks, led to an attack on our state borders along the Tovuz district in July 2020. This plan, which was intended to continue the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, but was doomed to failure from the beginning, resulted in the heroic death of 12 servicemen of our Army and their ascent to the peak of martyrdom. The sending of a terrorist sabotage group to our country with another provocation in August drew attention as another manifestation of facelessness. In addition, the resettlement of Lebanese Armenian families to Nagorno-Karabakh and other nefarious plans were part of the enemy's insidious intentions, which further aggravated the war.
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, recently announced that he had received information exposing the intentions of the Armenian aggressors and voiced this from the highest seat of the UN for the last time. The enemy shamelessly resorted to another provocation, once again demonstrating its disgusting and weak character by targeting the civilian population. Yet, there is a limit to patience and endurance. The brave Azerbaijani Army counterattacked, responded to the enemy and forced it to retreat with heavy losses. Stating that we have the right to liberate our lands from occupation at any time, Mr. President's decision was met with the sympathy, appreciation and unequivocal support of the Azerbaijani people.
The hard-working staff of the Baku Metro, which has a special place in the capital's public transport and spares no effort to provide exemplary service to its passengers, welcomed the news that our glorious Army began to liberate our lands from the occupation. Inspired by the spirit of these victories, the staff of the metro express their confidence that our occupied lands will be liberated to the last inch in the near future. We believe that these victories, which bring a special spirit to our people, will turn into a victory march and ensure the territorial integrity of our people, and the day is not far off when our state, known for its peace-loving attitude among the world states, will begin to rise economically.
Stating in his address to the people of Azerbaijan on September 27 that “We are on the right path. Our work is the work of truth. We will win! Karabakh is ours, Karabakh is Azerbaijan!”, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, demonstrated great confidence, decisiveness, logic and well-grounded position, which gives us grounds to share this conclusion with the Azerbaijani public with confidence.
Of course, the battlefield is not without losses. Bowing to the martyred sons of the Motherland, he expressed our deep condolences to our people, and express confidence that the unforgettable heroism of our fearless soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, the memory of innocent victims of the offense of the enemy will always be dear to every Azerbaijani citizen. We wish that these holy deeds for the homeland be accepted with mercy by God Almighty.
The metro staff, who were among the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the 1990s and always remembered the heroes and memories of the war, express solidarity with our people, are grateful to our civilian population who supported our servicemen, and venerate the President and the Azerbaijani soldier who devastated the enemy. We express our full support for the policy pursued by our President and his decisions and express our readiness to fulfill the orders of our Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
