It is the ninth station launched in the "Baki Soveti-Neftchiler" area of the Red Line. Named in honor of famous Baku oil workers, it was the last station of the mentioned area in the 1970s. Until 1989, this line served as a key transport junction, connecting the developing industrial areas of Baku. Behind the station road was built a two-lane sidestreet on both directions, which currently plays an important role in regulating traffic at rush hours.
The station walls are adorned with rich mosaic panels depicting the labour of Baku’s oil workers. Along both tracks are riveted silver columns in the center of the hall on the platform. On the ceiling, which is divided into squares, there are lamps that harmoniously emit soft lights throughout the station equally.
The floor is of colored and patterned granite, which creates an integrated composition with the columns and track walls. In 2016, the walls of passageway tracks of the station were renovated to meet modern requirements. On the passageway tracks are metal pannels that display the labour of oil workers, the historical role of Baku’s oil, the oil strategy of independent Azerbaijan and the historical value given by the national leader Heydar Aliyev to workers in this industry.
A fragment from a song "Dostlug" (also named as – “Neftchiler hagginda”), composed by Tofig Guliyev, is played on the trains arriving at the station.
