The Armed Forces of Azerbaijan are a symbol of the power of our state, a source of pride for each one of us, a defender of our confidence in the future and our independence. The army building of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the first democratic state in the Muslim East, took place in 1918 at a time when the Armenian aggression was intensifying. The situation obliged the immediate start of army building, and with the decree of June 26, 1918, the establishment of the Azerbaijani National Army took a start.
Gaining its independence for the second time, Azerbaijan started building its army with the realities of the Armenian aggression. With the efforts and determination of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, the building of the Armed Forces laid the foundation of an organized army in our country, contributing to its further strengthening.
Thanks to the military strategy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our army has risen to a level capable of justifying the trust of the state and the people and fulfilling crucial tasks ahead.
Today, the Azerbaijani army, whose material and technical base has been steadily strengthened, is bringing closer the day when our occupied lands will be liberated from enemy captivity.
In accordance with the tradition of historical succession, June 26, the day of the establishment of the National Army during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, is celebrated annually as the Day of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan as per the decree of Heydar Aliyev. On the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijani Army, we cherish the Azerbaijani army, which is always ready to fight for the freedom of our lands, and bow before the spirit of the heroic sons of the Homeland who sacrificed their lives on this path.
Glory to the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, the guarantor of the independence of our people, the independence of our country, the source of pride for every Azerbaijani citizen!
